Pursuing education amid Covid-19 crisis and lockdown

Today many Students are struggling to find a strong footing due to the uncertainty arising out of Covid-19 crisis. The universities have been shut for a very long time and due to lack of operations at administrative level, competitive exams and new admissions have been postponed indefinitely.

Students have been promoted on the basis of their past year performance or internal assessment marks. However, lack of clarity on the future course has hung children career in air with limited options.

Perhaps time has come to switch from traditional to modern modes of education, which can neutralize location, time and funding barriers. For example, online education could emerge as the new viable option in a fast changing world. Many countries, including India, seem to be ill prepared for this new order.

Nonetheless, United States still emerges as the clear leader in this domain. US already has appropriate systems, technology and courses that are available for students. For example, there is edX which is founded by Harvard, MIT alumni and Coursera founded by Stanford alumni.

Both of these online platforms offer range of online courses that are imparted by Ivy league professors. Other major online platforms include Udacity, Udemy, Codeacademy etc.

We will discuss more about online platforms and how they can help us upgrade our skills in the next post ..
